Eccl 2 – What Worth Chasing

Ecclesiastes II – What Worth Chasing?

Goal: Understand this world cannot fully satisfy us and to pursue causes with eternal meaning.

Key Passage: I got whatever I wanted and did whatever made me happy. But most of all, I enjoyed my work. 11Then I thought about everything I had done, including the hard work, and it was simply chasing the wind. Nothing on earth is worth the trouble.

Discussion:

1) Where were/are you in the cycle of satisfaction?

There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. v 24

2) “What is “make his soul enjoy good in his labour” mean to you?
3) We can of course to enjoy food, shopping, entertainment. In what way these are “enjoyment” in labour but not vapor.

Application: Do something that has eternal meaning
